No. 2 (2025): Cultural Becoming, Design and Creative Strategies
Cultural Becoming, Design and Creative Strategies

"The teaching of design is not limited to the creation of objects but extends to the production of knowledge and understanding, by observing and analyzing daily practices to anticipate possible futures."

Manifesto 2, Inquiry-Creation in Design (Nicolas Nova, 2021).

Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) derive significant benefits from a design education focused on ethnography and the observation of daily behaviors. This approach enables the development of products and services that are both relevant and innovative. By adopting a socio-anthropological perspective, design education fosters a deep understanding of human interactions with technologies. Nicolas Nova, through his research on digital cultures, highlights this essential dynamic (Nova, 2021). The creative strategy in design relies on a nuanced analysis of technological and cultural evolutions. By encouraging learners to envision possible futures and to use foresight as a tool for critical reflection, design education paves the way for bold innovations. Thus, CCIs renew and adapt to contemporary transformations by integrating interdisciplinary and prospective approaches. For issue 2 of our journal DEED, we propose the theme "Cultural Becoming, Design and Creative Strategies." We are interested in the models and approaches developed by CCIs and how they can be integrated into higher education, secondary and vocational cycles, or other educational structures, particularly through a logic of interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches. By combining these perspectives, it becomes clear that CCIs, by relying on creative strategies and innovative design methods, can not only meet current needs but also anticipate future developments, thus ensuring their relevance and impact in a constantly changing world.
